Background: Christina Futterknecht is a Licensed Associate Counselor, providing psychotherapy to individuals across the lifespan. In her work, Christina draws from Person-Centered and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to help reduce symptoms that can result from depression, anxiety, trauma, or other major life stressors. Prior to joining the Life InSight team, Christina has obtained extensive experience in crisis management by administering direct in-home interventions to youth and their families to stabilize acute behaviors and challenges. With a strong foundation in clinical practice and a passion for empowering clients to achieve their full potential, Christina is committed to staying current with the latest research and focusses on delivering practical, solution-oriented treatment.
Education and Training: Christina earned her Bachelor’s from the University of Scranton and later achieved her Master’s Degree in School Counseling from the University of Scranton. Christina has completed training in the Nurtured Parent Approach and Motivational interviewing. Outside of her time at Life InSight, Christina is a Professional School Counselor within a local Bergen County school. Over the years, she has worked in various capacities such as an Anti-Bullying specialist, 504 Coordinator, and School Testing Coordinator. She has additionally served on several committees around School Safety, Social-Emotional Learning, as well as Diversity and Inclusion. Moreover, Christina has developed and initiated programs around peer mentoring to foster positive and safe school environments. Christina has also provided individuals with career coaching and college admissions advisement.
About Me: Outside of her professional life, Christina enjoys spending time with her family and engaging in activities such as crafting, cooking, reading and being in the outdoors. In fact, she is an avid reader of thriller novels as well as a nature enthusiast, who enjoys hiking through various parks in Bergen County or taking in a quiet sunset at the beach. Recently, Christina has learned to crochet, creating projects like book covers, garlands, and a warm blanket for the winter. Above all, Christina believes in the importance of community and strives to stay actively involved whenever possible.
