Brett K. Bersano, Psy.D., NCSP.

Background: Dr. Brett K. Bersano is a licensed psychologist in New York and New Jersey as well as a certified school psychologist in New Jersey. He specializes in cognitive behavioral therapy for anxiety disorders and depression and works with individuals navigating difficulties such as ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder, behavioral regulation, anxiety, depression, and transitioning through the stages of life. He has expertise in child and adolescent psychotherapy, behavior management, and working with the d/Deaf and hard of hearing population utilizing sign language. Dr. Bersano provides psycho-educational and neuropsychological evaluations to better understand an individual’s cognitive, educational, social-emotional, and global functioning.


Education and Training: Dr. Bersano graduated from The College of New Jersey with a B.A. in Psychology and a minor in Women and Gender Studies. He obtained his M.A. in Developmental Psychology and Psy.S. in School Psychology from Gallaudet University, as well as his Psy.D. in School Psychology from Fairleigh Dickinson University. He has practiced as a school psychologist for more than a decade. He has held positions with the NJ Department of Education, Franklin Lakes Public Schools, Cumberland County Public Schools, and Montgomery County Public Schools. Dr. Bersano has supervised graduate students learning psycho-educational assessment skills at Fairleigh Dickinson University and Gallaudet University in Washington, DC. Additionally, he has volunteered to provide critical incident stress debriefings and critical incident stress management to first responders as a member of the Phoenix Team and is a Board Member of the Northeast Counties Association of Psychologists. 


About Me: Dr. Bersano enjoys spending time with his family, volunteering as an EMT, reading, hiking, camping, and exploring the outdoors. He also takes pleasure in woodworking, trying his hand at creative cooking techniques, and sampling different cultural cuisines.
