Mark Staum, LCSW

Mark Staum, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, in both New York and New Jersey, has extensive experience providing psychotherapy to children, adolescents and families, utilizing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Exposure and Response Prevention and Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction. Mark has successfully treated children with a myriad of social and emotional challenges; these include depression, anxiety, family adjustments and transitions, social skills difficulties as well as coping with grief and loss. For 9 years, Mark served on the staff of the Department of Counseling at Guidance at The Frisch School. As well, Mark has served as a Clinical Supervisor, group facilitator and a psycho-educational consultant in both outpatient and school based settings. Mark continues to develop mental health curriculum to support students in educational settings; these include, Building Self Esteem, Social Skills Development and Navigating Healthy Relationships.  


Mark received his B.A in Psychology from Yeshiva University and his MSW in Clinical Social Work, from The Wurzweiler School of Social Work. Mark completed postgraduate training at The Ackerman Institute for The Family. As well, Mark has completed extensive training courses in both Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy. 


Mark enjoys spending time with his wife and 4 children, playing sports, swimming and collecting antique books and other items. Mark is a passionate member of the local community, organizing food and clothing drives, while quietly fundraising for families facing financial struggles. Mark is a writer for a local community paper and enjoys studying both American and Jewish History.
